Hush!
September 3, 2008
We've been doing this potty training thing for a while now (and by we, I mean Nathan). It's taken quite a bit longer than we had originally expected. It seems that every time we make some progress, something happens to set us back a little. It's been pretty stressful in that sense. But, there are times when potty training has given us something to smile about.
Take, for instance, tonight. We put Nathan on the potty after dinner and left him there to do his thing. A few moments in, we hear a little voice calling out, "Mommy! I'm whispering 'hush!'". When Andrew went to check on Nathan, he found the little guy sitting in the complete opposite end of the bathroom (still on his potty, thank goodness) with the bath mat on his lap, saying that he was the "old lady". It may not make sense to you, but as someone who's had to read the story to Nathan over and over again, it was kind of amazing how his little mind could remember such little details and choose such an awkward moment to recreate it.
Where was this from? It was from the book Goodnight Moon.
In case you can't see it, the text reads: And a quiet old lady who was whispering "hush".
