Walk Now For Autism

May 21, 2009

The Tsoi family will be walking in this year's Walk Now for Autism!

As many of you know, I spent the past couple months working at a private agency that provides ABA for children with autism. It has been an amazing experience for me and the staff there are amazing people.

Though I'm finished my placement there, I decided to walk as a part of their team (Behaviour Institute) to support them and to support Canadian autism research. I've also enlisted Andrew and Nathan to come walk with me so it'll be a fun Tsoi family affair.

We'll be walking on June 7th from Nathan Phillips Square. It's an easy 5km walk but we'd really appreciate all the support we can get, either through your words of encouragement or (if you're feeling generous) your sponsorship! Support us by clicking here, and FYI, donations of $20 or more get a tax receipt!

Thank you in advance!

For those of you who want more information, here's the email to potential donors they've written up for us:

Please join me in making a difference in the lives of Canadian children, teens and adults living with autism today.

I am participating in Walk Now for Autism to help find the missing pieces of the autism puzzle. Autism one of the most common developmental disorder in the North America affecting one in every 150 children born today. Despite some promising discoveries, the cause of autism is unknown and a cure does not exist. Research is crucial. More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than pediatric cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined. Not only must we find ways to improve the quality of life for children and adults with autism, but we also must find a cure, and soon.

Walk Now for Autism is our chance to make a difference in the autism community by raising money for autism research and heightening public awareness. Please join me as I raise money to help fund essential research. You can donate to Walk Now for Autism and/or join my team online using the links at the bottom of this page. Donations can also be mailed to Autism Speaks Canada using the donation form located on my page or send me a cheque made out to Autism Speaks Canada. All funds raised in Canada, stay in Canada to support the work of Canadian researchers and the mission of Autism Speaks Canada.

Thank you for taking an important step in the fight against autism.
