Summer Cleaning or Almost Dead Meat
August 20, 2007
In a conversation with my sister and Andrew last Monday about jewelry, my sister asked me about a certain piece that I had acquired about a year and a half ago. When she asked to see it, I went to my room to grab the box it was kept in and upon opening it, I suddenly realized that it was no longer there. I panicked. Let's just say that if the person who gave it to me found out it had been lost, my life would pretty much come to an end. No question about it.
I had been asked by the giver to have it cleaned and resized so I could wear it. But at the time, Little Guy was still young and I didn't want to risk scratching him with it so I never actually wore it. Plus, I've just never been one to wear this.. type of jewelry. It just doesn't flatter me. Anyway, a couple months back, I decided to put it on, just for fun. I wore it around the house for a while until I had to give LG a bath, at which point I took it off.
I remembered, distinctly, telling myself that leaving it in the bathroom could only lead to bad things so I must have placed it somewhere else, forgetting to put it away. I spent the next half a week in a mad craze going through all the possible places I could have put it. While I was at it, I cleaned my room (I might as well!) and I was ruthless.
A pile of clothes took over my room and even after putting the stuff I wanted to keep away, the pile was still huge. I finally got around to getting rid of clothes I've been hanging on to for 'sentimental' reasons. LG loved the piles - he climbed up them and reclined on them.
Anyway, a few days ago, while going through a bag of clothes LG doesn't fit anymore, I found it. It sat there all shiny and stuff, nestled amongst the little pieces of clothing. Needless to say, it has now been safely returned to its box of a home. I don't think I'm ever going to wear it again - the risks are just too high.

ahh I hate being that frenzied panicky search mode! I'm glad you found your piece though.. things always have a way of working out. One time I thought I lost an important ring and I found it the next day in my knapsack, on top of a textbook. (Clearly I hadn't done my homework that night haha)
