Cherry Blossoms at High Park

April 28, 2010

Early last week, Andrew took us to High Park so I could see the cherry blossoms

Nathan had other things in mind.

This is the exact reason I want to move into a house with a big yard (well, this and the fact that we'd have more space):

Whenever Nathan sees grass, an open field, things of that sort, he goes crazy. He saw the grass and ran. Ran down the hill, away from the path, free as a bird.

We were perfectly content to let him run. The only problem was that he was running away from the cherry blossoms, so for the most part, I saw them through other trees.

But that was good enough for me because we got a chance to go out as a family in the middle of the week, and get some fresh air and exercise.

Word On The Street

September 28, 2008

I've been trying extra hard lately to get us out of the apartment, doing something every weekend. With our weekdays so packed with odd hours of work and school, it's hard for us to do anything too fun so I try to make up for it on the weekends. This weekend, the annual literacy festival in Toronto called Word on the Street was running. All three of us love to read so we thought it might be a good chance to go out for a nice walk in the park and acquire some books while we're at it.

Bits of Happiness

September 17, 2008

There's a bit of happiness in...
- walking downtown by yourself on a cloudless day
- having some random guy sneak a second glance at you (and knowing you still look good)
- getting a free drink when you buy something for a friend
- noticing how beautiful things are when you actually stop to look
- proving to a waiter that four tiny Asian girls can polish off six pounds of wings, a basket of fries, a basket of onion rings and a few pints of beer
- breathing in the crisp night air

Phil's

September 15, 2008

Never in my four years being at Waterloo had I set foot inside this underground bar. It just never happened and I was okay with that. But then, this past weekend, we reverted back to university student ways and did it. We went.

I had images of a dirty, nasty bar covered in grime and sludge (seriously, I thought the place would be a swamp). It wasn't hard to get those ideas when all you heard from people were "don't wear open toed shoes" and "my feet were black when I left".

I, and a couple other friends who had also never gone, were hesitant to go. But of course we had to because it was our friend's birthday and whatever she says, goes. Even though it wasn't her real birthday.

Anyway, we went and well, it wasn't quite as bad as I had originally thought. In fact, I kind of quite liked it, but only because the drinks were so dirt cheap! The music, on the other hand, sucked. And it sucked bad. If they had better music, I would have enjoyed it so much more.

But it was fun nonetheless. So here's a big happy birthday to Jasmine, hope you had a good one.

Bright, Sun-Shiny Day

May 27, 2008

My favourite (ahem) sister and I took advantage of the warm weather this past weekend and took a stroll down Queen Street West.

We soaked in all the sun and all the artsy-designy-ness of the area.

Lots of the stores were painted with vibrant colours and filled with so much lovely stuff.

If we had any less self-control, we would have bought ourselves into debt for sure.

And we have Andrew to thank for this day out. Despite his busted ankle and being in a lot of pain, he spent the afternoon with Nathan, waiting for us in the church nursery.

Lantern Festival

September 1, 2007

We finally got to go to the Chinese Lantern Festival at Ontario Place! I had wanted to go last year but never got the chance. Plus, my parents aren't big fans of Asian events because the place gets packed. Actually, my parents dislike any place that gets too crowded.

Anyway, we went with Andrew's family and Little Guy had a great time looking at all the lanterns. It was nice that we went at night - what good is a lantern show in the middle of the day? Although, I'd have to say I was slightly disappointed in how little there was to see. It was nice to walk around and get some fresh night air though.

My favourite was the pandas.
